New Xmas Haus Of Gloi Products Avaliable

November 8, 2010 Leave a comment

Oooh ooh, yesterday was the much awaited release of the Yule goodies from the Haus, stalked the clock all afternoon for them to update their site and got my goodies 8 minutes after they went on sale, still obviously very much in love with Haus Of Gloi, and never disappointed by their products.

My tip would be to quickly go for the Glogg perfume oil, there’s limited (one per customer) supplies as this year Britton couldn’t re-stock it in the usual soap, scrub and lotion forms. surprised this hasn’t sold out already, but have noticed a few of the items are sold, so keep your eye on the site for when stock is replaced.

If you don’t already know the usual Parkin, Hearth and Snow Wolf are back along with a new scent Eggnoggin. The site says Yule items should be avaliable until the 5th of January 2011.

Will return to do a review when my items are here.

New Halloween Haus Of Gloi Products

August 29, 2010 Leave a comment

Look on the brand new Haus Of Gloi website from today onwards for some new Halloween goodies.

New scents are:

PUMPKIN QUEEN: Gentle hay pillows, pumpkin flesh, ripe peaches dusted with clove and nutmeg, dried summer herbs, and lastly, a lovely crown of amber.

SAMHAIN: Rustling leaves, chilled winds …
Freshly turned earth, wet leaves, and a cool herb laden wind carrying spectres and spooks!

You’ve been bewitched! Lecherous: brackish amber, aged vanilla bean and three dark fruits, veiled in darkness and otherworldly secrecy.

A merry drink of harvest and glowing with warmth: Peach juice simmering with sweet spices, pumpkin, silken hazelnut cream and made completely curious with a drop of orange blossom water.

They will all be avaliable in soap form, bathing dust, perfume, bubbling scrub and the new thicker pumpkin butter cream.

There is also a new lip balm avaliable for limited edition too.

Everything sounds beautiful and going to have to make a big order, recently bought lots of HoG products, still loving this company.

Soap To Go ~ Suds N Such

July 12, 2010 2 comments

This was a random Etsy purchase a while back. Ordered a Soap To Go, which is basically soap in a tube!!

Meant to be used when out and about, instead of using public toilet soap. The lid makes sure no water escapes into your bag, found the soaps will dry quick enough for you not to worry about making a mess.

Smells of lime, but found after use there is a soap smell on my hands. Maybe next time will buy one of the soaps without essential oil.

Cost was $3.75 and sent fairly swiftly within a few days.

Received a business card, a free sample of Yuzu scrub and a card ~ collect 5 and you get free soap.

Worth a go, and soap works well. Check out the Etsy soap here.

Grumpy Haul ~ Collective Haul

Have bought several Grumpy Girl products this year. Have tried every scent in different types of products, but here is a selection of just a few.

Found Grumpy Girl on You Tube, there is several GG haul videos there, and liked the way they were packaged and the excitement of trying the new scents. There’s wax melts, candles, soaps, various thickness of body butters, scrubs, lip balms, body sprays, and solid perfumes. Can buy samples of some of this products, and there is always a few free samples with each order. The scent list is here.

So, unto various products and my faves.

Booty Call Soap

Wholesome oats and sweet cream are infused with rich warm notes of honey and almonds and topped with a sprinkling of brown sugar.

All of the Grumpy soaps are very conditioning, lather up really well. and this soap in my honest opinion is best used in the Booty Call or 3 Bears scent. I always cut my soaps into little pieces because I’d prefer to swop and change soaps and not ruin them by sitting in a puddle of bubbles. The soaps have never let me down. All smell great. You get a huge piece of soap for around $5.50 (differs with some scents)

Booty Call itself reminds me a teeny tiny bit of Snowcake from Lush, that would be the almond scent, and it’s so nicely blended with the honey. This is one of those soaps you want to eat. It’s a bit scrubby, you’ll need to go easy on rubbing the actual bar on your skin.

Acid Trip Scrub

A meditative unisex blend of patchouli, sweet orange, lavendin, pine, lemongrass and elelmi, with notes of incense, amber and musk.

This is a dupe of Lush’s Karma. Spot on, in fact this is how I used to love Karma, found it’s become just a slight bit more sweeter over the years. And this is the Karma I fell in love with years ago. If you don’t know Karma : it’s like walking around on a sunday afternoon around Camden Town in London, incense and summer altogether.

The scrub itself lasts for a long time, you’ll find you don’t need a awful lot for one use, and this will last at least two weeks. Doesn’t leave any oils on your skin but it does feel soft.

Woodstock 69 Stick O Buttah

The ultimate hippie fragrance blend! A rich, beautiful blend, with an earthy hint of patchouli and sweet smell of nag champa

VERY hippie. Love this scent so much, and have sniffed my arms after using this so much, scent lingers fairly strongly, the butter is a bit greasy, you roll on the stick, and it’s up to you if you want to rub it in your skin, I tend to leave it on as I find my skin instantly is smooth. And because I love the scent so much. The butter will stay on your skin all day.

Porn Star In Pink Panties Body Spray

A complex scent of fresh bergamot, juicy citron, mingling with floral notes of neroli, jasmine and rose. Leading into the heart of the fragrance, are notes of sweet pear, plum, apricot, and red lyche, ending with base notes of sensual musk and cedarwood, with swirl of white chocolate and fluffy pink cupcakes.

This lasts friggin ages, used a few times and doesn’t look like I’ve used any at all. I would not recommend spraying under armpits, but over your arms, chest, stomach works well. Scent lingers all day, and find I prefer the Little Squirts body spray which is a much smaller product.

This scent is very strong, a perfume scent, and seems to be one of the more popular scents, very fruity.

Voodoo Berry Lip Crack

No description, but this is very berry, with slight black cherry included. The balms are soft and conditioning. I’ve had a few samples of this included with orders before rather than soap.

Plum Crazie Fluffy Stuff Soap

Rich, vibrant plums, raspberries, cranberry, citrus, apple, strawberry with a touch of vanilla, honey and rum.

This whipped soap is so soft and so easy to apply, a little goes a long way, and quickly lathers up. The scent doesn’t tend to last after it’s been washed off, but you’ll love it during a shower. The scent is so fruity and yummy. Can smell the raspberries and plum.

Let Them Eat Cake Goats Milk, Shea Butter & Honey Lotion

Rich, buttery Italian birthday cake topped with fluffy buttercream frosting.

My favourite of the lotions, it’s not too thick, lasts so long, and the scent always compliments the lotion. It easily soaks into skin, the scent is a yummy cake scent. Another you want to eat it scent.

Find I don’t need to re-apply this at all. By far my favourite product from Grumpy.

Check out the videos on You Tube and drool over the scent descriptions.

Edit :  Here is twixtbetwixt’s recent haul video

Latherati ~ Book Inspired Body Products

Found Latherati on Etsy during a random search for unique and different perfumes and soap. Every scent is based on books, every product has a scent description, the inspiration (title and author of book) and a brief description of the book.

I placed my order one week ago and it took one week exactly to get to the UK, I know the package was shipped day after purchase. I also received a convo from the owner to say thanks for the order and my order was being shipped out.

I ordered Wishing roll-on perfume oil, Gloom Soap, and received a free sample of Beguile lip luster.

After opening the package envelope my order looked like this, everything was enclosed in black tissue paper.

Gloom Soap

The soap came in a little cardboard box, with ingredients on a sticker on the side, the box was made to look like a book, clever little idea. When I opened the soap box I could smell the incense along with the floral rose which work well together, Gloom is a very unique scent, it is very strong, but I was expecting that.

Scent description is as follows:

rich vanilla, hints of rose and honey with dusky notes of nag champa incense

Cannot smell any vanilla before using the soap, but during use the vanilla is more prominent and mixes well with the strong incense smell, in fact it kinda takes away the strong incense, overall the scent is very nice, very unique, very nag champa and if you like heady scents you’ll love this, I do so it works well for me.

The soap lathers up quickly and you get a good deal of bubbles, scent lingers after use. Skin felt clean after use, but not particularly moisturised. All soaps are priced at $5 each for a 5 ounce bar. Will buy another soap scent to fully judge if this soap is for me. There is samples called Book Endz for $5 you get 5 soap samples, i will order this next time.

Wishing Roll On Perfume

Each roll on tube consists of 9ml of perfume oil, it rolls on easily with a good amount left on your skin.

Scent description is:

A blend of rich vanilla, spicy cinnamon and a hint of magic.

This is my favourite of the two scents, gorgeous vanilla and the right amount of spice. Slight element of fruit included. The scent does last a good few hours, and is not overpowering at all. But if you like that occasional slight whift of fragrance you get when you move around this is for you. Priced at $5 for 9ml you get a lot of oil for your money. Would recommend this product and will order more.

Beguile Lip Luster

This is amazing, now I don’t like lip balms very often, I hate gloopy balms that leave your lips sticky and far too oily. This however, is just right for me. It’s moisturising and leaves a noticeable soft finish. There isn’t any flavour I can taste, but can smell the scent of:

lavender mint

Leaves a teeny tiny peppermint tingle on my lips, and have no problems re-applying. REALLY recommend this. It’s priced at $3.50 and would be making a order maybe in the “Classic” scent of vanilla almond.

I would buy from Latherati again, would like to try their lotion, read shop feedback and the lotions have got good reviews. Not sure about the soap if honest, will need a few days of trying it to see if it’s moisturising enough for me, but happy to try different scents to test this out. Everything else is brilliant, lovely scents all round, well priced and generous amount of products, fantastic lip balm sample. Great packaging and overall theme for the shop.

EDIT: Sorry about the quality of the pics, will be getting new camera soon 🙂

First Haus Of Gloi Haul

June 16, 2010 7 comments

First found Haus Of Gloi about 5 months ago after watching a few haul videos on You Tube, I was looking for a new brand to get into. Found a few mixed reviews; people seemed to be totally in love with the Haus products, or really not so sure, or felt they weren’t right for them (due to complex scents).

Decided I’d wait, and one day I’d make an order… oh man should have ordered much sooner:  I’ve missed the Spring scent line and a few “reverie” products whilst waiting (pift.)

First of all, I ordered about 6pm one night and about 3 hours later I was sent an email to say my order was being sent out (ALREADY!!!!!!) Within a week it was here. Was bowled over by the super speedy turnaround, and then I got really excited about my order because if customer service is like that then I had high hopes for the products.

I ordered the Honey Tree Emulsifying Scrub 1oz (price $2), Moon Dog Sample Perfume Vial ($2.50) and Picaroon 2oz jar of Lotion ($3.50) and I received a free sample of Vice Soap.

Everything was wrapped well in tissue paper and when I opened it up I could smell chocolate and coconut. I also received a little thank you card.

The Vice sample soap has lasted me three showers. Decided before I even used it I would buy myself some, the scent described is:

Steam billows rolling off a vessel of fresh made Turkish coffee, marshmallow goo tainted by graham cracker crumbs, toasted hazelnuts and blanketed in black chocolate.

Oooh yum, makes me hungry even just looking at that description let alone sniff it!!! The coffee smell is gorgeous, now I love my coffee and I love the smell of fresh coffee but I’m usually put off by coffee beauty scents, either way too overpowering or you end up smelling like you’ve had a cup poured over you and it goes stale. Vice is nothing like that, the chocolate gives the coffee a nice darker note. The soap lathers up easily and my skin hasn’t dryed up after use. (and my skin is prone to drying with most soaps). Vice perfume is definitely on my list of Haus must haves.

Next up, Honey Tree Scrub, have heard so much good stuff about this scent and it certainly seems to be one of the top HoG scents. It is very sweet, a little bit too sweet for me, although it is nice, and I will continue to use this scrub up I wouldn’t be buying it in scrub form again, however I have heard the Honey Tree soap is more musky and that sounds just the right blend for me. So will be buying the soap as I really want to like this. Scent description is:

Right from the bee hive honey, amplified by seductive essence of vanilla, darkened by a passing waft of woody smoke. A beautiful brown splattered with golden mica.

Can smell the honey mainly, but can pick out the notes of smoke and vanilla. I just want a little less honey. The scrub works really well, the sugar is very fine and not a harsh scrub, one of the best scrubs I’ve used in fact, It doesn’t leave you feeling greasy but after you’ve washed off the sugar there is some oils left on your skin, like I say it’s not greasy though. Which is weird right!! The blend of oils just work very well. Skin just feels soft and very moisturised. The 1oz tub gives you lots of showers worth of product, I only use a small half a teaspoon size amount, and it’s more than enough, also it’s nice to try a scent/scrub without buying a huge frigging jar and finding you don’t like the scent or product and then wasting most of it just to get rid of it. For $2 you just can’t go wrong with this.

The sugar is fine and amazingly soft on your skin

Moon Dog perfume next.. this scent is AWESOME. Nope! It’s gorgeous! Nope, It’s delicious. Damn it, it’s all of those things and more. Try it, try it NOW!!! Haus gives you a very generous sample, god knows how many days worth you can get out of this, if you tried it every day for a month I’d say that’ll last that amount of time. I use the scent on my wrists and every so often I can smell it, but it’s in no way over powering to anyone around you, it’s more of a personal scent, you’d want to keep smelling just for yourself. Haus describes this as:

Solar storms erupt: pure cracked coconut, dry sandalwood heated with Indonesian nutmeg and a Singapore clove.

Spicy yes! And complex, and oh so yummy. It’s very sexy, and a very adult scent. Again very nicely priced sample. The vial is labelled- very good if you buy more than one scent.

The scent lasts for most of the day, but you get so much product you’d be re-applying every few hours just to have more to smell. Seriously, it’s THAT good.

Last product is the Picaroon Lotion. The lotion comes in 2oz tubs, 4oz bottles and 6oz jars. The 2oz is well priced, and you really don’t need a lot of product for each application, the lotion sinks into your skin quickly, non greasy (in fact every review I’ve read says the lotion is one of the best non greasy products around) yet the lotion doesn’t disappear it leaves skin soft, and moisturised. I usually have a issue with lotions, I have dry skin on my upper arms, some lotions have made it worse, some moisturise yet still have to keep re-applying product every few hours. Difference with this, I don’t need to re-apply product. First application sorts out my dry issue, leaves my skin nicely scented (scent lingers on skin all day) but I will admit I do re-apply this lotion… Why? Because a) I love the fragrance. and b) I figure it isn’t hurting to put more on. This is the first lotion I’ve used that I don’t have to go wash my hands afterwards.

The scent!

Sun scorched mahogany bough crusted with a crystalline sea spray! Faint plundered rare spices. Lemongrass, coconuts, fine Mexican lime and Haitian bay rum.

Don’t let the sound of lemongrass put you off. It’s blended so well it compliments the spices. The yummy coconut and rum notes are the reason why I re-apply. Very unique.

Overall, I love everything, I do love the Honey Tree (but really want the soap now). Items are affordable, samples are generous. Packaging is beautiful.

Already re-ordered the new Summer scents for my second order. Will be trying every scent Haus offers.

Haus Of Gloi are based in Portland, OR in the US. They offer 16 scents (look here for the general catalogue, and also seasonal limited edition fragrances. Scents can be found in bath salts, perfume oils, soap, scrub, new foaming scrubs, and lotion. This company is strictly vegan, if you have any questions about this just send Britton a convo on Etsy.
